Printing them
Each card is one file, two pages. Open it and print — the page size is already set to 5.5 × 8.5 inches, so print at 100% rather than “fit to page,” and turn on background graphics or the dark mastheads will come out white. Print double-sided on the short edge, trim, and it laminates to a sheet that fits a dry bag or a jacket pocket.
If your printer will only do letter paper, print at 100% onto letter and trim to the border. Do not scale to fit — the type is set small enough that shrinking it costs you legibility in bad light, which is exactly when you need it.
What is on them, and what is not
Everything on these cards is public record, traced to a primary source and printed with the source on the card: USACE project pages and releases, KDFWR waterbody records and access listings, USGS gauge stations, and state and federal fishing regulations — the Kentucky Administrative Regulations on Kentucky water, the National Park Service and the Code of Federal Regulations where a card is inside Great Smoky Mountains National Park. Where a figure is our reasoning rather than an agency’s published number, the card says so in those words.
No spots. No holes, ledges, laydowns or seams. That comes from time on
the water, and we do not print what we have not fished. Access, hazards, flow and regulations are public
record, and those we give you straight.
Cards are dated. Pool levels, ramp status and regulations all change — verify before you travel, and use the alert link on a water if you would rather be told than remember to check.
Get told when the water changes
Not a newsletter. Pick the waters you fish and we email you when something actually changes — a pool level moves, a ramp closes, a dam schedule shifts, flow drops into the window.
No weekly send. No digest. Nothing on a schedule. If the water is doing what it always does, you hear nothing.
