What you hear
What the primary sources actually say
"It's a lake tailwater, so it has a pool schedule."
No pool parameter exists for this reach. Winter/summer/flood pool (668.0 / 675.0 / 713.0 ft) and the 77 cfs outflow are the lake’s figures, one dated snapshot (24 Sep 2026) — not a live reading for this water.
"Check the USGS gauge for the flow."
It won’t tell you. USGS 03306000 reports gage height and water temperature only; its discharge record ended 30 Sep 1994. Call the Corps: (270) 465-8824 or (270) 465-4463.
"Single-hook rule covers the whole reach to KY 55."
Not established. 301 KAR 1:201 §3(34) runs dam to "the end of the concrete wall" — a point not published in any source read. Treat it as in force until the wall is visibly behind you, not as ending at any particular landmark.
What this road actually gets you
KDFWR, verbatim: “A paved parking lot (with security lights) and a single lane concrete ramp suitable for small john boats, canoes and kayaks is available.” “Boats are not permitted upstream of ramp according to posted ACOE signage.” First shoal 0.25 mile downstream at the KY 55 bridge. Bank fishing runs from below the dam down to the ramp, and this is the start of the Upper Green River Blue Water Trail.
No trotlines, jugs or set lines within 200 yards of the dam (statewide rule, Fishing & Boating Guide p.13). The USACE Tailwater Recreation Area shares this ground — picnic shelter (8 tables, electricity, reservable), playground, seasonal restroom, about 2 miles from the Corps Visitor Center. Two KDFWR pages give coordinates about a tenth of a mile apart for this ramp; the access-site record (37.2416, -85.3441) is the one mapped here.

The limits above apply on this whole reach, not just below the wall — the single-hook rule (dam to the wall’s unpublished end) restricts method only. Green River Lake’s own 40-in muskellunge / 9-in crappie limits (301 KAR 1:201 §3(35)) belong to the lake, not this reach, confirmed against the regulation’s own scoping language. *The Guide’s Black Bass daily limit also covers Kentucky/spotted and Coosa bass, which have no size limit (§2(1)(a)2); the 12-in limit is largemouth and smallmouth only.
