Nolin River Lake · Pool, Access & Regulations

Twenty-three feet down by December, and two of the ramps are the marinas’ now

Nolin River Lake comes off summer pool on 15 September — half a foot by 14 October, then the other twenty-two and a half by 1 December. Three towns feed it, Brownsville from the south, Leitchfield from the north and Munfordville from the east, and four roads between them reach every one of KDFWR’s eight access sites. This guide files each site under the road that gets you to it, prints the pool schedule and the gauge parameter that compares to it, quotes the rules in the agencies’ words, and keeps track of something that has changed twice since 2025: which of those ramps the Corps still runs, and which now answer to a marina. The clock runs on Central time.

6,017 acres of the Nolin River backed up behind a dam near Bee Spring, “about 8 miles above the Confluence of the Nolin and Green Rivers”, with a state park on the lower lake, three Corps campgrounds, and a Corps-owned, KDFWR-managed wildlife management area of 6,456 acres wrapped around the shoreline. Trout are stocked below the dam, the crappie carry a 10-inch minimum, the black bass a 15-inch minimum, and the walleye a 14-inch minimum with a creel of six. The Corps calls it, on its visitor page, “one of the top five lakes in Kentucky for catfish, bass, crappie, and walleye fishing” — the Corps’ sentence, not ours.

Nolin River Lake. Every launch is placed from KDFWR’s published coordinates. No Corps page publishes a coordinate for the dam, so the dam is drawn at the USGS lake gauge, 03310900, which sits at the dam; the tailwater ramp and the river gauge below it fix the line the river leaves on. Shoreline, arms, roads and land shading are schematic — the real outline is far more cut up than this, and the map does not claim otherwise.

The lake in one paragraph

Nolin River Lake is an Army Corps impoundment on the Nolin River in south-central Kentucky, authorised under the Flood Control Act of 1938. “Construction of the operating tower and outlet works began in January 1959 and was completed in July 1961”; “Construction of the dam and spillway was begun in June 1961 and completed in May 1963”; and “The reservoir was placed in complete operation on March 4th, 1963”. “Total construction cost was $14.5 Million, but the dam has saved over $115 Million in flood damages through 2014.” The dam is “about 8 miles north of Brownsville, 20 miles from Leitchfield, and 95 miles southwest of Louisville”, and “While the dam is located in Edmonson County, the lake also covers portions of Grayson and Hart Counties.” The drainage above it is 703 square miles on the USGS river gauge. The Corps office is at 2150 Nolin Dam Road — Mammoth Cave on one Corps page, Bee Spring on another, the same road — and its hours are stated in Central time; every clock on this page runs on it. The first summer was a dry one: “Summer pool was not reached in 1963 due to insufficient runoff”, and the lake bottomed at 480 feet that March, twelve feet below today’s winter pool.

On the acreage. No Corps page we read prints one. KDFWR’s waterbody record says “6,017 acre lake”; KDFWR’s WMA index map says 6,018; KDFWR’s 2021 bass assessment says “a 5,790-acre multipurpose reservoir”; the state park reservation page says “5,795-acre lake”. We print 6,017 with the waterbody record as the source and note the others rather than pretend they are not there. Dam dimensions, shoreline miles, maximum depth and storage: no primary web page was readable. The Corps’ own historical marker at the dam gives some of them, but we have only a transcription of it on a third-party site, so nothing from it is printed. Status pending.

The pool year, and the gauge that actually reads it

The Louisville District publishes the schedule. Summer pool is 515.0 feet, winter pool 492.0. The fill runs 15 March to 13 April. The drawdown is in two stages, and the second one is the one that matters.

1 Dec – 15 Mar492.0Winter pool

Those are targets. This is a flood-control lake, and it sits above target after rain for as long as the Corps needs to hold water back. “Summer Pool is 515 and Spillway Crest is 560” — 45 feet of flood storage above the summer line. On 5 April 2025 the District reported “Nolin River Lake is currently at 533.8 feet (MSL) and utilizing 35 percent of flood storage, and still rising”, with a forecast that it “could reach somewhere between 552-555 MSL”. The after-action release a month later said the lake “hit levels within their top five record pools of all time” — a top-five pool, not a record. The record itself is in a District release we could not open, so the record pool elevation and its date are status pending, and so is the final April 2025 crest. That spring the campgrounds opened late: Wax “will remain closed until at least June 27”, Iberia day use “until June 13”, and the Moutardier picnic shelter, damaged, “will not open in 2025”.

Read the right parameter. The lake gauge is USGS 03310900, Nolin Lake near Kyrock, “operated in cooperation with the United States Army Corps of Engineers - Louisville District”. It offers three parameters, and one of them will mislead you. 62614 is lake surface elevation above NGVD 1929 — the number that compares to 515 and 492. 00065 is gage height above a local datum, and it is not the pool. (00045 is rainfall, and USGS marks it temporary.) Use 62614. The Corps releases say “MSL”; we print elevations as feet NGVD29 with USGS as the source. USGS also notes that real-time water-quality collection at this station “will cease” in late December for want of funding — the elevation series is a separate matter, but check the page. Below the dam, 03311000, Nolin River at Kyrock, listed water temperature and gage height through 24 September 2026 on its legacy page and no discharge series; its newer page reported no continuous data at all — live status pending. There is no recorded information line for this lake on any Corps page we read; the office is (270) 286-4511.
What the alert watches. This site’s daily watcher reads USGS 03310900, parameter 62614, with the Corps’ water-management record for Nolin Lake as its fallback, and emails Nolin River Lake subscribers only when the reading moves from one of these bands into another and holds there for two daily checks in a row: below winter pool (489.5 feet and under), at winter pool (over 489.5 to 494.0), between winter and summer pool (over 494.0 to 514.0), at summer pool (over 514.0 to 516.0), above summer pool (over 516.0 to 560.0) and above the spillway crest (over 560.0). The anchors are the figures on this page: summer pool 515.0 and winter pool 492.0 from the schedule above; the Corps’ water-management record for Nolin Lake (water.usace.army.mil, read 29 October 2026, feet NGVD29), which labels 515 “Top of Conservation” and “Guide Curve”, 490 “Top of Normal” — two feet under the Fill and Drawdown page’s 492.0, and the two are different Corps documents — and 560 “Top of Flood”; and the District’s release of 5 April 2025, quoted above, “Summer Pool is 515 and Spillway Crest is 560”. The winter band runs from half a foot under the record’s 490 to two feet over the Fill and Drawdown page’s 492.0, so a lake held to either Corps figure reads “at winter pool”; the one-foot margins around summer pool are ours, the same kind the Cave Run alert uses, so a lake sitting on its target does not email you every time it wobbles. Above summer pool the one upper edge is the spillway crest, the next level the Corps record lists above it. The email prints the reading’s time on Central time, as this page does.

What twenty-three feet does here

The half-foot step between 15 September and 14 October is close to nothing on the water; it is the Corps easing off the top. The move that rearranges the lake is 15 October to 1 December, when twenty-two and a half feet come out in seven weeks — a foot short of Barren’s swing, three times Green River’s. Two things about it are documented rather than guessed, and one thing is not.

First, the Corps says which of its ramps stay open: “Nolin has four U.S. Army Corps of Engineers operated boat ramps. The Arnold Van Meter aka Site One, located at the dam, Moutardier ramps are open year-round.” “The Iberia and Dog Creek boat ramps are open from April 1 until October 31.” Second, KDFWR’s access records carry season flags, and three launches are not year-round: Iberia, Dog Creek and Bacon Creek are “Seasonal - 24 Hours”. Every other launch — the Nolin Dam Ramp, the state park’s Brier Creek Ramp, Moutardier, Wax and Conoloway — is flagged year-round, 24 hours.

What is not documented is a ramp-by-ramp winter note. No Corps page gives a per-ramp closure elevation, and no KDFWR record on this lake translates the 23-foot drop into a launch warning, the way Barren’s Port Oliver record does. So this page prints the pool figures, the Corps’ ramp-season sentences and the KDFWR flags, and nothing else about which ramp goes dry.

Reasoning, not measurement. Water leaves the flattest ground first. All three seasonal launches — Iberia on the upper arm, Dog Creek on its own arm, Bacon Creek at the headwater end of the Nolin River arm — sit up the arms, which is where a 23-foot drawdown takes the water away first, and the year-round flags cluster at the dam, Moutardier and Wax on the main body. It is the same reason the backs of the coves lose their cover before the main lake shows any change, and why the fish that were on that cover end up on the first hard edge outside it. That is how a reservoir behaves, not a survey of this one.

Four roads in

KDFWR’s waterbody record lists eight lake sites with a direction string for every one, and the strings sort themselves: “KY 259 N of Brownsville; Hwy 728 E” to the dam and, with “Hwy 1827 N”, to the state park; “KY 259 N of Brownsville; right on Hwy 2067; boat ramp at end of road”; “KY 259 S of Leitchfield to Smitty City; left on KY 226 to Peonia; right on KY 88” for three sites; and “KY 88 NW of Munfordville” for the other two. The corridors below are built from those strings, not from compass quarters. A corridor is one trip’s worth of road — the highway in, then every ramp, campground and marina that road serves without doubling back through another corridor. KY 259 gets two corridors because its two spurs, KY 728 and KY 2067, do not connect along the shore.

4 · KY 88 from MunfordvilleKY 88 north-west of Munfordville; KY 728 to Brigg Webb Road1 Corps fee ramp (seasonal), 1 free single-lane launchDog Creek (Corps campground); no marina

That is six multi-lane ramps and two single-lane launches for light trailers. The Corps’ own sentences on fees: “There is a $5 boat launching fee at all Corps operated ramps, payable by credit card” (the amount as read on 24 September 2026 — we print “fee ramp, Corps day-use pass”); “Nolin Lake State Park also operates a boat ramp. There is no fee charged at state operated boat ramps”; and “Wax Marina operates Wax Boat Ramp, please contact the marina regarding fees.” KDFWR flags six launches with a fee — Nolin Dam, Moutardier, Iberia, Dog Creek, Wax and Conoloway — and Conoloway is the one nobody explains: it is not one of the four ramps the Corps says it operates, not the state park’s and not Wax Marina’s. Status pending. Free on KDFWR’s flags: the state park’s Brier Creek Ramp and Bacon Creek. Courtesy docks at the Nolin Dam Ramp and Brier Creek only; KDFWR flags none at Moutardier, Wax, Iberia or Dog Creek, though Recreation.gov’s day-use pages list “courtesy docks” at Moutardier and a “courtesy dock” at Dog Creek — the conflict is printed where it arises. Single lane: Conoloway, Bacon Creek and the tailwater. The facility and season flags on this page are what KDFWR lists; they are not a check that a site is open today. Directions are KDFWR’s, verbatim.

Corridor 1 — KY 728 from Brownsville: the dam, the Nolin Dam Ramp and the state park

This is the Corps end of the lake and the corridor with both of its courtesy-dock ramps. From KY 259 north of Brownsville — the Corps Lakes Gateway says “From Brownsville, north 5 miles on KY 259, right on KY 728, follow signs” — KY 728 east reaches the Corps office at 2150 Nolin Dam Road, the Nolin Dam Ramp (a multi-lane fee ramp with a courtesy dock and paved parking for 51 or more, year-round) and, below the dam, the Tailwater day-use area: “restrooms, playgrounds, a boat ramp, picnic tables, and a reservable group shelter”. KY 1827 north off KY 728 reaches Nolin Lake State Park and its Brier Creek Ramp — free, multi-lane, courtesy dock, year-round — with the park’s campground, camp store, sand beach and the Brier Creek trail system. Both USGS gauges read here. KDFWR calls the ramp at the dam “Nolin Dam Ramp”; the Corps calls its ramp there “The Arnold Van Meter aka Site One, located at the dam”. No page says the two names are one ramp, and nothing else is at the dam, so we treat them as the same site — reasoning, labelled. The tailwater ramp is a different water, linked below rather than carded. Field card: No. 14-1, Nolin River Lake · KY 728.

Below the dam. The Nolin River Lake Tailwater is its own KDFWR record (wid 80, Edmonson County) with one ramp, asid 157, and two regulation rows — brown trout and rainbow trout, “Statewide Regulations Apply”. The Corps: “Kentucky Fish and Wildlife regularly stocks the Tailwater at Nolin”. The National Park Service, whose Mammoth Cave boundary the river runs into, describes the area: “The Tailwater Recreation Area, at the base of the Nolin River Dam, serves as a recreation access point for the Nolin River before it flows into Mammoth Cave National Park”; “A paved boat ramp provides access to canoers, kayakers, and boaters wanting to access the national park on the Nolin River”; and its float is “Trip Distance: 11.1 miles (17.8 km) | Approximate Travel Time: 4 to 6 hours” to Houchin Ferry, with the warning that “Water levels can change rapidly due to weather … or due to water release schedules from the Nolin River Dam.” One thing on the KDFWR record needs a phone call before it is trusted either way: the ramp page carries the note “The Nolin River Lake Tailwater Boat Ramp is temporarily closed due to reduced water levels following the partial failure of Lock and Dam 6 on the Green River.” The NPS says of that failure, “In 2016 there was a failure of Lock and Dam No. 6 on the Green River, downstream of the confluence with the Nolin River, and the dam was ultimately removed”, and describes the paved ramp as current. We print both and take neither as today’s status. We link the tailwater record rather than restate it; our Nolin River Lake tailwater guide covers the water below the dam and what applies there.
Watch-outs on this road. Call the Corps, (270) 286-4511, before planning a tailwater launch — the closure note above is undated and the dam it names is gone. The state park ramp is year-round but its shoreline access is flagged seasonal. The Corps office closes at 3 p.m. Central on Fridays (“M-Th, 6:30 a.m. - 4 p.m. and Friday 6:30 - 3 p.m. (Central Time) (may vary, please call ahead)”). Special events at any Corps area need a permit: “Contact the park manager (270) 286-4511 30 days prior to the scheduled event to obtain a permit”.

Corridor 2 — KY 2067: Moutardier

One dead-end road, and the lake’s biggest single recreation area at the end of it. KDFWR’s string is “KY 259 N of Brownsville; right on Hwy 2067; boat ramp at end of road”; Recreation.gov’s address for the campground is Leitchfield, and its directions from Bowling Green come down KY 259 from KY 101 to “right on KY 2067” — the spur is reached from either town. At the end: the Corps’ second year-round ramp, multi-lane, fee, paved parking for 51 or more, no courtesy dock on KDFWR’s record and an accessible pier; the Moutardier campground, “167 sites, 81 with electric and water hookup”, with “showers, a dump station, flush facilities, playgrounds within the campground, public marina, and hiking trails”; Moutardier Marina, limited hours; and the day-use area, which Recreation.gov describes as having “restrooms, playgrounds, picnic tables, boat ramp, courtesy docks, fishing piers, and a reservable group shelter”. Because KY 2067 goes nowhere else, it is its own trip and its own card. Field card: No. 14-2, Nolin River Lake · KY 2067.

Recreation.gov names three marinas on the lake, “Moutardier, Ponderosa, and Wax”; the Corps Lakes Gateway names two, “Moutardier Marina and Wax Marina”, and lists a Ponderosa area with nothing flagged. Ponderosa has no KDFWR access record, no coordinates and no phone on any agency page, so it is not on the map — status pending. No Corps page prints Moutardier Marina’s phone.
Watch-outs on this road. The management changed on 1 September 2026: “Effective Sept. 1, 2026, Moutardier Day Use Area will be managed under a lease agreement with Moutardier, LLC.” Recreation.gov sends fee and rebooking questions to Moutardier, LLC at 502-333-2838. The Corps’ own release on the “Moutardier Recreation Area” would not open, so whether the campground and the year-round ramp are inside the same lease is status pending — assume the ramp’s fee and pass rules may have changed with the day-use area and ask. In the April 2025 high water the Corps listed “Dog Creek, Moutardier, VanMeter” as the three operational ramps and closed the A and D loops of the campground into June; a dated fact, not a rule.

Corridor 3 — KY 88 from Peonia: Conoloway, Iberia and Wax

The Grayson County shore, reached from Leitchfield: “KY 259 S of Leitchfield to Smitty City; left on KY 226 to Peonia; right on KY 88”, then three launches in order along KY 88. Conoloway Road first: a single-lane paved ramp for “Any light trailerable recreational boat”, unpaved lot for 25 or fewer, no restrooms, no dock, no accessible facilities, year-round, and a KDFWR fee flag nobody explains. Then the Iberia sign: a multi-lane Corps fee ramp with no dock and paved parking for 51 or more, open “from April 1 until October 31”, at the lake’s public beach — “The Iberia recreation area provides a public access beach and includes a small shelter for shading.” Then Wax: a multi-lane ramp with no dock, paved parking for 51 or more, an accessible pier, restrooms, picnic ground and the 110-site campground, all year-round on KDFWR’s flags, and all run by Wax Marina now. This is the family corridor — beach, marina, campground — and the one whose fee rules changed most. Field card: No. 14-3, Nolin River Lake · KY 88 (Peonia).

Camping and the marina. Wax: “110 sites, 86 with electric and water hookup”, “from early May through early September”, “showers, a dump station, flush facilities, playground within the campground, and public marina” — the Corps’ figures. Since 4 February 2026: “Effective immediately, Wax Campground will be managed by Wax Marina.” “Questions regarding fees, pass eligibility, or reservations procedures should be directed to the new managing entity—Wax Marina.” “They can be reached at 270-242-7205”. No Recreation.gov campground page for Wax was found; the marina takes the bookings. The day-use area went the same way a year earlier: “Effective Jan. 1, 2025, Wax Day Use area (to include boat ramp, parking area, picnic area and restrooms) at Nolin River Lake will be managed by Wax Marina.”
Watch-outs on this road. After 31 October, Iberia is closed and Wax is the corridor’s only year-round multi-lane ramp — and its launch fee is the marina’s, not the Corps day-use pass, so ask before you assume the pass counts. Conoloway is a light-trailer single lane with an unpaved lot and nothing else, and a fee flag with no owner. Nothing on this corridor has a courtesy dock. “Swimming in Nolin Lake is permitted except as indicated by posted signs.”

Corridor 4 — KY 88 north-west of Munfordville: Dog Creek and Bacon Creek

The Hart County side and the upper arms. “KY 88 NW of Munfordville (15 miles); follow signs” is Dog Creek: a multi-lane Corps fee ramp with no dock on KDFWR’s flag (Recreation.gov lists “boat ramp, courtesy dock, and fishing pier”), paved parking for 26 to 50, the only cleaning station KDFWR flags year-round on the lake, a 70-site campground with “showers, a dump station, group picnic shelter, pit restrooms, and watchable wildlife area”, and a day-use area; the Corps opens the ramp “from April 1 until October 31”. Bacon Creek — “KY 88 NW of Munfordsville (11.5 miles); right on KY 728 to Brigg Webb Road”, the spelling is KDFWR’s — is the farthest-up public launch on the lake: single lane, light trailers only, unpaved lot for 25 or fewer, no facilities, free, seasonal. This is the corridor for the upper Nolin River arm and the Dog Creek arm, and — reasoning, labelled as such — the one most exposed to the fall drawdown, because both launches are flagged seasonal and sit highest on the lake. Field card: No. 14-4, Nolin River Lake · KY 88 (Munfordville).

What the regulations tell you about the lake

SpeciesKDFWR special regulation, verbatim
Black crappie“Must be 10 inches or over, Statewide creel limits apply”
White crappie“Must be 10 inches or over, Statewide creel limits apply”
White bass“Statewide Regulations Apply”
Walleye“Must be 14 inches or over, Limit 6 per angler”
Largemouth bass“Must be 15 inches or over - Limit 6 per angler”
Smallmouth bass“Must be 15 inches or over - Limit 6 per angler”

Six rows, and three of them depart from statewide in ways worth stating plainly: the 10-inch crappie minimum (statewide has no crappie size limit, and a creel of twenty); the 15-inch, six-fish rule on largemouth and smallmouth (statewide is 12 inches and six); and the 14-inch, six-fish walleye minimum — a minimum, not the 18-to-26-inch slot Barren carries. Spotted bass, hybrid striped bass and catfish are not on the record at all, which means statewide rules, not a Nolin-specific number. Read the table as a description of the lake. A 10-inch crappie minimum on a lake KDFWR’s forecast page names among its “New Up-and-Comers” for crappie is a harvest fishery being kept honest. A 15-inch black bass minimum, three inches over statewide, on a lake whose 2021 assessment ranked the largemouth fishery “in the ‘Excellent’ range” since 2012, is a state protecting the year classes it already has.

Verify before you keep anything. These are the special regulations KDFWR publishes for Nolin River Lake as of 24 September 2026. Statewide rules fill in everything not listed, and both change. The current Kentucky Fishing and Boating Guide is the authority, not this page. Below the dam, the tailwater record lists brown and rainbow trout under statewide rules and nothing else; whether any lake limit follows the river below the dam is a question for the KAR boundary, which the tailwater page will read.

What the agencies say about the fish

Less than usual, and we say why. KDFWR’s 2026 Fishing Forecast has an entry for Nolin River Lake, and we could not read it: the document is long, the tool we read it with returns only the first part, and the Nolin entry is past the end of that part. Two earlier attempts returned confident species paragraphs that a stricter re-read showed were not in the text we had, so they are discarded. Nothing from the forecast entry is printed here until it has been read from the document itself. What the agencies do say, on pages we did read:

  • The Corps: “Nolin fishing includes Bass, Bluegill, Catfish, Crappie, Trout, and Walleye.” And, on its visitor page: “one of the top five lakes in Kentucky for catfish, bass, crappie, and walleye fishing”.
  • KDFWR’s forecast web page, in its list of improving fisheries: “Crappie at Fishtrap Lake (Pike County) and Nolin River Lake (Edmonson, Grayson, and Hart counties)”.
  • KDFWR’s Nolin River Lake Largemouth Bass Assessment 2021, linked from the waterbody record: “Overall, the largemouth bass fishery at Nolin River Lake has averaged a ‘Good’ rating (14.1) over the past 20 years”; “Since 2012 the total assessment score has ranked in the ‘Excellent’ range. The increased catch rates of 15.0-inch and 20.0-inch and larger fish should indicate great fishing for the next few years.” A 2021 document, quoted as such.
  • Trout: “Kentucky Fish and Wildlife regularly stocks the Tailwater at Nolin” (the Corps). KDFWR’s monthly stocking page showed no Nolin row for September and says “Stocking dates for streams on Federal Property are not announced ahead of time”. Its trout-stream classification lists “Nolin River Lake (Nolin River) 3.5” as a Class II water with brown trout.

No KDFWR page we read gives a stocking number, size or rate for the lake — not for walleye, not for hybrids, not for trout below the dam — so no stocking figure is printed.

Who manages what

The Corps of Engineers, Louisville District, owns the project and operates the dam, the office at 2150 Nolin Dam Road, four fee ramps (Van Meter at the dam, Moutardier, Iberia and Dog Creek), the Iberia beach, the Dog Creek and Moutardier campgrounds, the Tailwater day-use area and “Four group picnic shelters”. Two of its recreation areas have gone to private operators under lease since 2025: Wax, day use and campground, to Wax Marina; the Moutardier day-use area, from 1 September 2026, to Moutardier, LLC. The Corps’ own words on why: “the Louisville District routinely evaluates how to best deliver an enduring recreation program amid rising supply and service costs. This includes optimizing project operations through public-private partnerships.” Print each management sentence as the agency scopes it; do not assume the Corps still runs a leased area.

The shoreline outside the developed areas is Nolin River Lake WMA: 6,456 acres in “Edmonson, Grayson & Hart cos.” on KDFWR’s record, “Owned by U.S. Army Corps of Engineers”, “WMA consists of shoreline surrounding Nolin River Lake. Access by KY 88, 1214, 259 and KY 728, with many secondary roads leading to within a short distance of lake.” Hunting is “Open under statewide rules and regulations in effect for the county”, with one exception: “Rabbit and quail seasons open Nov. 1-Dec. 31, except during the opening weekend of modern gun deer season.” The record’s camping line points at the park: “Nolin River Lake State Park campground open year-round.” WMA office (270) 646-5167.

Nolin Lake State Park, Kentucky Department of Parks, 2998 Briar Creek Rd, Mammoth Cave, (270) 286-4240: “Mammoth Cave is 14 miles from Nolin Lake State Park”. The campground page lists 65 sites — 32 standard electric, 32 tent, one group overflow — “Open year round”, with reservations taken “from Mar. 31 to Oct. 31”; the facility page says “There is a launching ramp on the lake, and a sand beach curves along the lakeshore”, and lists a bathhouse, camp store, dump station, pavilions and playground. The Brier Creek Trail System runs from here: “Waterfall Loop (1.9 miles) and the Omega Loop (2.2 miles)” plus “a ½ mile ‘Beginner’ trail”. The state’s own park page returned a navigation shell, so day-use fees are status pending. The two marinas the Corps names, Moutardier Marina and Wax Marina, are under Corps lease; Wax Marina’s number, 270-242-7205, is in a Corps release and is printed; Moutardier Marina’s is not on any Corps page. Ponderosa: see corridor 2. We did not read the marinas’ own pages.

Where the state has put cover

KDFWR publishes a GPX file and a Google map of marked attractor sites for Nolin River Lake, from the agency’s attractor index — Nolin_River_Lake.gpx and the map, which the waterbody record links as well. We have not opened and counted the file, and KDFWR does not state a count on the page, so there is no number here. Take the file from them.

What we have not verified

  • Current pool. Live. Read USGS 03310900, parameter 62614, not any number printed on a website, including this one.
  • The record pool and its date. The District release “Nolin River Lake Reaches Record Pool” would not open. April 2025 was “within their top five record pools”, not a record. Status pending.
  • The final April 2025 crest. 533.8 feet on 5 April, forecast 552–555; no final figure read. Status pending.
  • Dam dimensions, shoreline miles, maximum depth, storage, and the acreage. No Corps web page read prints them; the acreage is KDFWR’s. The Corps’ historical marker at the dam is known only from a third-party transcription. Status pending.
  • The elevation datum on Corps pages. The releases say “MSL”; USGS says NGVD29 for 62614. Printed as NGVD29 with USGS as the source.
  • Ramp, shelter and campground fees. Amounts change; “fee ramp, Corps day-use pass” and “fee site, see Recreation.gov” are what we print. Wax: the marina’s fees, not printed.
  • The Moutardier lease. Day use to Moutardier, LLC from 1 September 2026; whether the campground and ramp are included is status pending.
  • Conoloway’s fee. KDFWR “Ramp Fee: Yes”; not a Corps, state park or Wax Marina ramp. Status pending.
  • Courtesy docks at Moutardier and Dog Creek. KDFWR says no; Recreation.gov’s day-use pages say yes. The conflict is printed.
  • Campground season dates. The Corps gives month-level windows; the 2025 openings were flood-delayed. “Seasonal — dates on Recreation.gov” is what we print; Wax books through the marina.
  • Ponderosa. Named as a marina by Recreation.gov and as an area by the Gateway; no coordinates, phone or access record. Not on the map. Status pending.
  • Moutardier Marina’s phone. Not on any Corps page. Status pending; no marina website is printed.
  • State park day-use and beach fees. parks.ky.gov returned a navigation shell. Status pending.
  • The tailwater ramp’s status. KDFWR’s closure note names a dam the NPS says was removed. The Corps’ current status was not read. Status pending — the tailwater page’s first job.
  • Trout stocking below the dam. “Regularly” per the Corps; no schedule row, no count. KDFWR does not announce federal-property stockings in advance.
  • The 2026 Fishing Forecast entry. Could not be read; nothing quoted. Status pending.
  • Which ramps go dry at 492. No source gives a per-ramp closure elevation. The Corps’ ramp seasons, the pool figures and the KDFWR flags are all that is printed.
  • USGS 03311000 real-time status. Gage height and temperature on the legacy page through 24 September 2026, no discharge, nothing on the newer page; re-checked before any tailwater watch entry.
  • Attractor count. GPX and map linked, not counted.
  • Algal bloom status. Kentucky publishes advisories only through the Division of Water’s interactive HAB viewer, which cannot be read from a static page. Check it directly in summer.
  • The Fill and Drawdown page itself. It is titled for the 2024 season and carries a notice that the District site is moving to the Division site; it was live on 24 September 2026 and its 515.0 / 492.0 figures agree with the Corps’ April 2025 release and the project page. The water watch re-checks it every run.
